Abstract Applying the poetics of feminism to explicating folk poetry, this article studies the imagery and position of women in relation to men presented in folk poems. Discussions can be drawn out from studying the e der of bot t e poet s bje ts a d a t ors s art le ot o l po ts o t t e “obed e e” tra t of the female in folk poetry but also acknowledges the contribution of female writers in the creation of folk literature, which is quite different from that in written literature.
